ABOUT School of ME

The School of Mechanical Engineering, originally established in 1961, traces its roots to the Metallurgical Machinery major at Ma'anshan Iron and Steel Industrial School. It was renamed to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ma'anshan Iron and Steel Institute in 1978, and later rebranded as the Department of Mechanical Engineering at East China Institute of Metallurgy in 1985. The department was subsequently named the School of Mechanical Engineering at Anhui University of Technology in 2000. Currently, the faculty includes 117 staff members. Among them are one Ministry of Education Young Yangtze River Scholar, one Ministry of Education New Century Excellent Talent, two Wanjiang Distinguished Professors, six Anhui Provincial Academic and Technical Leaders and reserve candidates, one Anhui Provincial Leading Talent Distinguished Professor, two leading talents and teaching masters in Anhui Province, seven Anhui Provincial Leaders in Strategic Emerging Industry Technology, one Anhui Provincial Young Wanjiang Scholar, one Anhui Provincial Exceptional Teaching Master, two Anhui Provincial Distinguished Teachers, one Anhui Provincial Outstanding Teacher, three recipients of the Baosteel Outstanding Teacher Award, and four Anhui Provincial Promising New Talents in Teaching.

The School is organized into six departments and centers: the Department of Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation; the Department of Mechanical Engineering; the Department of Vehicle Engineering; the Department of Robotics Engineering; the Basic Course Teaching Center; and the Engineering Practice Center. It houses five national and provincial research platforms, including the International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Intelligent Equipment Manufacturing in Special Service Environments, the National-Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Advanced Mechanisms and Control Technology in Intelligent Robots, the Anhui Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center for Hydraulic Vibration Technology, the Anhui Provincial Key Laboratory for Special Heavy-duty Robots, and the Anhui Provincial Engineering Laboratory for Intelligent Demolition Equipment. The School offers six undergraduate programs in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation; Mechanical Engineering; Vehicle Engineering; Robotics Engineering; New Energy Vehicle Engineering; and Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering. It also provides a first Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineeringa primary discipline Master's program in Mechanical Engineering, a professional Master's program in Mechanical Engineering, and a secondary Doctoral degree in Metallurgical Intelligent Manufacturing and Process Management. The Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation program is recognized as a national first-class undergraduate program, while both the Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering programs are acknowledged as provincial first-class undergraduate programs. Mechanical Design and Theory is a key discipline in Anhui Province. The School hosts three provincial and university-level outstanding innovation teams in Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Hydraulic Vibration and Control, and Equipment Operational Performance and Condition Research, along with five provincial-level outstanding teaching teams in Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, Engineering Mechanics, Basic Mechanical Courses, Engineering Graphics, and Materials Mechanics. Currently, there are 2,455 undergraduate students, 368 master's students and 12 doctoral students in the School.

Over the past five years, the School has undertaken 450 research projects, including 20 national-level projects such as those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Key Research and Development Program, 54 provincial and ministerial projects, and 376 industry-academia-research collaboration projects with enterprises.
